The amazing Container Bar was the brainchild of my gorgeous husband Arne and his best friend Linton. The boys had a brainwave idea that they would build a high-end luxury bar to be able to hire it for events, and also host lots of parties with the bar themselves.
About 5 winters ago they set themselves up in the Ecco landscapes yard, bought a Container and hatched their idea. Both Linton’s wife, Erin and I thought they were completely mad and neither of us wanted anything to do with it.
Every Sunday through the winter the boys would spend the day beavering away, having chats, beers and building their luxury bar. I would often go down and see them, shake my head and tell them they were crazy... Little did I know that once they had finished building the Container Bar that I would fall completely in love with it!!
They did such an amazing job of turning their vision into a beautifully crafted, finished and polished bar. Every little detail from the bluetooth sound system, back lit signage, huge fridge space, ice bank for the keg system and the floating coin hidden in the macrocarpa bar was done with perfection.
The boys managed and ran the Container Bar business for the first few years, with me always putting my hand up to be the bartender (a job that I absolutely love). Over the first few years the Container Bar got busier with bookings alongside Dublin Bay Weddings. Both the boys run their own business’, so it became quite a juggling act to balance. This is when I put my hand up and offered to take over, welcome the Container Bar into Dublin Bay Wanaka- events and weddings and offer it as part of the service.
So, 2 years ago, I bought the Container Bar off my husband and his best friend, I put together my awesome Container Bar team and now we are having the time of our lives. We have taken the Container Bar to so many awesome events and weddings in the Otago region. We were the main bar at the village green at the NZ open Golf, the VIP bar at the Ripe festival and just got back from a 2 day 60th deep in Ben Nevis station.
The bar lives permanently on the Dublin Bay Wanaka wedding and event site but is always ready to be moved to any venue for weddings, events and parties.
